Q:What is the difference between a BWAV and a wav file?
A: There is an extra chunk in a BWAV file called the "bext" chunk. That's the only difference.
Q:What other Mac programs will edit BWAV files?
A: Protools has the ability to create BWAVs and Edit metadata. Netmix , Soundminer and Media Rage also have the ability to edit the metadata. Sound Grinder can convert files to BWAV but does not edit. Logic Pro seems to have some kind of BWAV data display Those are the only ones I know of beside BWAV Writer.
